Deputy CM Boosts Rajouri Infrastructure: Foundation Stones Laid for PMGSY Roads and Irrigation Guest House
NOWSHERA, MARCH 16, 2026 — In a major push toward rural empowerment, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today launched several high-impact infrastructure projects in the Nowshera division of Rajouri.
The Deputy CM laid the foundation stones for two vital road links under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), totaling an investment of over ₹1,567 lakh. These include the 4.0 km stretch from Jhanghar Helipad to Ashok Gate Sarya, sanctioned at ₹1001.92 lakh, and the 2.50 km Chowki to Kanara East link road, costing ₹565.20 lakh.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to “last-mile” development, the Deputy CM noted that these all-weather roads will bridge the gap between remote villages and essential services like healthcare, markets, and schools. Additionally, he initiated the construction of a new Irrigation Guest House at Rajal to enhance departmental supervision and field operations in the region.
Following the ceremonies, the Deputy Chief Minister transitioned into a direct public outreach mission, convening camps at the project sites to engage with local residents and address their pressing concerns.
During these interactions, citizens voiced grievances regarding unscheduled power outages, drinking water scarcity in Chowki, and the urgent need for school upgrades at Sarya and Jhanghar.
Choudhary assured the public of swift redressal and directed officials to expedite the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission. The day concluded with a high-level review meeting involving the Forest and Public Works Departments, where the Deputy CM emphasized the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination to resolve Forest Conservation Act (FCA) cases and ensure the timely completion of ongoing development works.
