DC Udhampur Issues Strict Directives Against Fuel Black Marketing; Sets Up 24/7 Monitoring Cell

UDHAMPUR, March 16, 2026 — In a proactive move to address growing public concern over the scarcity of essential energy resources, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, has issued a comprehensive circular aimed at streamlining the distribution of LPG cylinders and petroleum products across the district.

Acknowledging reports of delayed deliveries and irregular supplies in several areas, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, IAS, has mandated all local distributors and fuel dealers to ensure an uninterrupted and timely supply chain. The administration highlighted that these products are essential commodities for daily household and transportation needs, and any disruption causes significant hardship to the general public.

To curb illegal practices that often exacerbate shortages, the district administration has warned of strict legal action against any entity found engaging in hoarding, black marketing, overcharging, or refusing bookings.

These enforcement measures fall under the Essential Commodities Act and other relevant legal provisions. To facilitate real-time monitoring and public support, a Designated Complaint Cell and a 24/7 Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) have been established at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Citizens can report grievances or irregularities by calling the newly launched helpline numbers: 01992-272727 and 01992-272728.Furthermore, the directive mobilizes a multi-tier oversight mechanism involving Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Tehsildars, who are tasked with conducting regular field inspections and maintaining a strict vigil over distribution networks.

The administration has also issued a strong advisory to the general public, urging them to refrain from panic buying or hoarding. By fostering coordination between the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and local distributors, the Udhampur administration aims to restore normalcy and ensure transparent fuel availability throughout the district.
