SRINAGAR, MARCH 16: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level meeting today to evaluate the availability and stock position of essential commodities across Jammu and Kashmir, specifically assessing preparations for the upcoming festivals of Eid al-Fitr and Navratri.
During the session, senior officials presented comprehensive reports regarding the current supply chain and inventory of LPG, petrol, and diesel, alongside stock levels maintained at various regional depots and distribution outlets.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for seamless delivery systems to ensure that the public faces no inconvenience during the festive season, highlighting that the government is committed to maintaining a steady flow of basic necessities to every corner of the Union Territory.
In a move to protect consumers, the Chief Minister directed the administration to implement strict monitoring mechanisms to curb potential hoarding and black marketing. He stressed that any artificial scarcity created by unscrupulous elements would be met with firm legal action.
To further stabilize the market and maintain public order, Omar Abdullah urged citizens not to indulge in panic buying or succumb to rumors regarding shortages. He advised the public to rely solely on official information and government bulletins regarding the availability of essential goods, assuring them that there is sufficient stock to meet the increased demand during the festivities.
The meeting also touched upon the logistics of distribution in far-flung areas to ensure that the spirit of Eid and Navratri is celebrated without any administrative hurdles.
