Indian Army Rescues 235 Stranded Civilians Amid Heavy Snowfall at Sinthan Top in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, J&K | March 16, 2026 — In a daring high-altitude rescue mission dubbed “Op Sinthan Rescue,” the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps successfully evacuated 235 civilians and recovered 38 vehicles stranded at Sinthan Top on March 15, 2026.

The operation was launched immediately after reports emerged of travelers trapped by sudden heavy snowfall and deteriorating weather conditions in the Kishtwar region. Braving treacherous terrain and relentless snow, army troops were mobilized to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those caught in the sub-zero temperatures.The rescue teams provided essential relief to the stranded individuals, including hot meals, drinking water, and emergency shelter, while specialized repair and recovery units worked to restore mobility to snow-blocked vehicles.

Medical teams were also on-site to provide life-saving assistance and essential medicines to those affected by the extreme cold.

The mission concluded successfully with all civilians and vehicles safely escorted out of the danger zone, thanks to the seamless coordination between the Indian Army, J&K Police, and NHIDCL.

This swift intervention once again underscores the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives in the most hostile environments.
