INS Trikand Bolsters Maritime Ties with Mauritius Through Joint Naval Exercise and EEZ Surveillance

PORT LOUIS, MAURITIUS — March 15, 2026 — Strengthening the long-standing maritime partnership between India and Mauritius, the Indian Navy’s INS Trikand successfully concluded a strategic port call and joint operational engagement in the island nation.

Following a productive stay aimed at enhancing bilateral ties, the frontline frigate participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Mauritius Coast Guard Ship (CGS) Valiant. In a significant move toward regional security, INS Trikand also conducted joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) surveillance alongside the Mauritius Coast Guard, ensuring the safety and sovereignty of vital sea lanes.

This deployment, part of the MAHASAGAR initiative, reaffirms the “Bridges of Friendship” between the two nations and underscores India’s commitment to being a preferred security partner in the Indian Ocean Region.

Having completed its mission in Mauritius, INS Trikand has now proceeded to the next phase of its planned operational deployment.
