Amritsar Rural Police Bust ISI-Backed Terror Module; AK-47 and Glock Pistols Seized
AMRITSAR, March 14, 2026 — In a significant blow to cross-border crime networks, the Amritsar Rural Police has successfully dismantled an ISI-sponsored terror and arms smuggling module, leading to the arrest of two key operatives.
The high-stakes operation resulted in the recovery of a substantial weapon cache, including an AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 36 live cartridges, and three sophisticated Glock 9mm pistols. Preliminary investigations indicate that the apprehended individuals were in direct communication with foreign-based handlers via encrypted social media platforms.
Beyond arms trafficking, the module was reportedly active in radicalizing local youth and disseminating anti-India and anti-police narratives to destabilize the region. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Gharinda, and Punjab Police are currently working to trace forward and backward linkages to fully uproot the network.
This crackdown reaffirms the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and organized crime as part of ongoing efforts to maintain national security.
