Trichy International Airport Conducts AHME-2026 Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise to Bolster Aviation Security

TIRUCHIRAPPALLI, March 14, 2026 — To ensure the highest standards of passenger safety and emergency readiness, the Annual Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise (AHME-2026) was successfully executed at Tiruchirappalli International Airport.

This large-scale drill, conducted in close collaboration with a wide array of aviation stakeholders, was designed to rigorously test the airport’s response protocols and enhance inter-agency coordination during high-stakes security threats. The exercise saw a massive, unified response from the CISF, Indian Air Force (IAF), Airports Authority of India (AAI), and State Police, alongside vital support from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Customs, and the Bureau of Immigration (BoI).

By simulating a real-world crisis, the drill provided essential training for medical and fire services, district administration, and airline representatives, reinforcing a robust multi-agency framework capable of neutralizing contingencies and safeguarding India’s airspace.
