Poonch Police Boost Emergency Response: SSP Shafket Hussain Flags Off Modern Dial 112 ERSS Vehicles
POONCH, March 12, 2026: In a major move to enhance public safety and modernize field policing, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shafket Hussain flagged off a new fleet of Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) Dial 112 vehicles from the District Police Lines (DPL) today.
Flanked by senior officials, including the Additional SP and Deputy SPs for Operations and Headquarters, the SSP launched the initiative aimed at providing a unified, lightning-fast response to distress calls across the district.
These dedicated vehicles are now strategically deployed to handle a wide range of emergencies, from road accidents and criminal activities to immediate medical or civil disputes, all routed through the centralized 112 helpline.
To ensure the highest standards of service, the police personnel assigned to these ERSS units completed a rigorous two-day specialized training program at DPL Poonch before hititng the roads.
During the final briefing, Hussain emphasized the importance of professionalism and courteous public interaction, noting that the primary goal of the ERSS deployment is to drastically reduce response times and provide visible, reliable assistance to citizens in crisis.
Equipped with advanced communication gear, these mobile units represent a shift toward technology-driven, citizen-centric policing.
While reiterating that public safety is the top priority, the SSP also urged the community to use the Dial 112 service responsibly to ensure that genuine emergencies receive immediate priority.
