J&K Chief Secretary Reviews Roadmap for Future-Ready IT Parks; Phase-I to Launch at IIT Jammu by June 2026

JAMMU, March 12, 2026 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level meeting to evaluate a strategic roadmap for establishing state-of-the-art IT Parks across Jammu and Kashmir, a phased initiative designed to bolster the Union Territory’s digital economy and generate high-value employment for youth.

Emphasizing that technology will be the cornerstone of future economic growth, the Chief Secretary highlighted the necessity of building robust institutional capacity and infrastructure to meet global technological shifts.

The meeting, attended by Secretary IT Dr. Piyush Singla, the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, and the CEO of JaKeGA, focused on a collaborative model with IIT Jammu to transform the region into a hub for innovation and research.

Dulloo directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination with academic partners to ensure that the foundational steps of this ambitious project are executed within the stipulated timelines.

The project is structured into three distinct phases to ensure a sustainable growth of the local tech ecosystem. Under Phase-I, set to launch in May–June 2026, approximately 50,000 square feet of existing space within the IIT Jammu campus will be upgraded to kickstart operations.

This will be followed by Phase-II, which involves constructing an additional 120,000 square feet of infrastructure starting later this year, with a completion target of 2028. Phase-III envisions a massive expansion beyond the campus, with land already identified in the Kashmir Division and additional parcels being sought in Jammu to accommodate larger industry players and research-industry partnerships.

The proposed Innovation Research Park at IIT Jammu will feature over 11,000 square meters of functional space, specifically designed for innovation labs and startups, aiming to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application.
