J&K Weather Forecast: Erratic Conditions to Persist Until March 20; Farmers Advised to Resume Operations

SRINAGAR March 12, 2026 — The Meteorological (MET) Centre in Srinagar has issued a comprehensive update indicating that Jammu and Kashmir is set to remain under the influence of erratic weather patterns until at least March 20.

Following a varied atmospheric performance over the last 24 hours, the forecast for today, March 12, suggests a partly cloudy sky with the potential for brief spells of light rain or snow in the higher reaches at select locations.

However, a temporary window of stability is expected to emerge between March 13 and March 14, providing a brief respite with generally dry weather across the region. This short-lived calm will likely be interrupted on March 15 as cloud cover increases, leading to a spell of light to moderate rain and snow, particularly in higher elevations, spanning from the night of March 15 into the morning of March 16 across scattered to many areas.

The atmospheric instability is predicted to linger through the following week, with the night of March 17 and the morning of March 18 potentially seeing light precipitation at isolated spots.

A more widespread disturbance is anticipated between the night of March 19 and the morning of March 20, which may bring another round of light to moderate rain and snow to many parts of the union territory.

Amidst these shifting conditions, the MET Centre has issued a specific advisory warning of possible thunder and gusty winds in certain localities on the evening of March 15. In light of this forecast, farmers are strongly encouraged to utilize the dry interval on March 13 and 14 to resume and complete essential farm operations before the next wave of precipitation arrives.

Residents can finally look forward to a more sustained period of generally dry weather currently projected to begin on March 21 and last through March 23.
