CM Omar Abdullah Outlines Vision for Modernized JK Houses; New Properties Planned for Delhi and Mumbai

NEW DELHI, MARCH 11, 2026: In a significant move to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s institutional footprint across India, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a high-level review meeting to oversee the expansion and modernization of JK House properties.

Accompanied by Resident Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and senior officials, the Chief Minister reviewed ambitious plans to establish new facilities in Dwarka, New Delhi, and Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, while simultaneously revamping existing assets in Chandigarh, Amritsar, and several prime locations in the national capital.

Emphasizing the need for these structures to serve as “symbols of pride,” the Chief Minister directed that all new and renovated infrastructure must authentically reflect the cultural identity and architectural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, blending traditional aesthetics with modern functionality.

During the session, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of providing world-class accommodation and administrative support for officials, students, and patients traveling from the UT. Key projects discussed included the ₹29.56 crore development in Navi Mumbai and the land consolidation efforts required for a functional facility in Amritsar.

To ensure excellence, Omar Abdullah instructed officials to benchmark these projects against the best state guest houses in the country and explored the involvement of premier agencies like the NBCC and CPWD for efficient execution.

The Resident Commissioner also presented updates on the upgradation of VIP suites at Chanakyapuri and the redevelopment of properties at Rajaji Marg and Prithviraj Road, reinforcing the government’s commitment to creating a dignified and high-quality presence for J&K residents nationwide.
