Kashmir Weather Forecast: Heavy Rain and Snow Predicted Across J&K for Next 72 Hours
SRINAGAR March 10, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir is bracing for a significant weather shift as a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to bring widespread precipitation over the next 72 hours.
According to the latest update from Kashmir Weather Forecast, the region will remain mostly cloudy with a high probability of rain in the plains and snow across the higher reaches. Specifically, heavy rainfall is anticipated in the North Kashmir districts of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora.
Meanwhile, Central and South Kashmir are likely to experience moderate to occasionally heavy rain spells during this three-day window.In addition to the rainfall in the valleys, moderate to heavy snowfall is forecast for the higher altitudes and key mountain passes.
This includes the Sonamarg-Zojila axis, Sinthan Top, Sadhna Top, Razdan Top, and Peer Ki Gali, which may impact vehicular movement on these critical routes. Residents and travelers are also advised to stay cautious of gusty winds, thunder, and lightning that may occur in some plain areas.
While intermittent showers and snowfall are expected, weather officials clarified that continuous precipitation is not predicted, suggesting brief intervals of relief between the spells.
