Srinagar Patwari Arrested Red-Handed by J&K ACB for Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe
SRINAGAR | March 10, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully trapped and arrested Saffdar Hussain Mir, a Patwari posted at Halqa Batamaloo, Srinagar, for demanding and accepting a bribe.
The operation was initiated following a written complaint alleging that the public servant had demanded ₹10,000 in exchange for issuing revenue extracts required by a relative of the complainant. Unwilling to yield to the corrupt demand, the complainant approached the ACB to seek legal action, prompting a swift pre-trap verification that confirmed the illegal request.
Following the verification, the ACB Police Station in Srinagar registered Case FIR No. 05/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act, 1988. A specialized trap team was subsequently constituted to apprehend the official.
During the meticulously planned operation, Saffdar Hussain Mir was caught red-handed while accepting the marked currency of ₹10,000 from the complainant. The accused was immediately taken into custody after the completion of all necessary medico-legal formalities.
Authorities have confirmed that a further investigation into the case is currently underway to uncover any additional irregularities.
