India Dispatches Humanitarian Aid to Flood-Hit Mozambique: Navy Ship Deploys Rice, Medicine, and Relief Supplies
NEW DELHI, March 10, 2026 — India has officially launched a comprehensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission to support Mozambique as the nation grapples with devastating floods across its central and southern provinces.
Reaffirming its commitment to international solidarity, the Government of India has mounted a multi-faceted response aimed at providing immediate life-saving support to the affected populations.
This mission underscores India’s strategic role as a trusted first responder and a dependable partner for nations across the Indian Ocean Region and the African continent.
The relief package includes a massive shipment of 500 MT of rice as immediate food assistance to combat potential shortages in the flood-stricken regions. Furthermore, an Indian Navy ship has been dispatched carrying 10 MT of essential relief supplies, including specialized tents, hygiene kits, and rehabilitation items, alongside 3 tonnes of critical medicines.
This naval deployment follows a prior sea-route delivery of 86 MT of life-saving medical supplies, ensuring a steady pipeline of healthcare resources to manage the post-flood humanitarian crisis.India’s prompt action reflects its “Security and Growth for All in the Region” (SAGAR) vision, providing integrated humanitarian, medical, and logistical support during times of natural calamity.
