DG EME Lt Gen Rajiv K Sahni Reviews Tech Innovation and Combat Readiness at Konark Corps

JODHPUR, March 9, 2026 — Lieutenant General Rajiv K Sahni, Director General of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) and Colonel Commandant, conducted a comprehensive visit to the Konark Corps and various EME units across Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Nagtalao to review operational preparedness. During the visit, the General Officer commended the “Konark Eagles” for their exceptional efforts in maintaining the mission reliability of combat-critical equipment under challenging desert conditions.

A significant highlight of the review was the recognition of the units’ success in developing a robust in-house ecosystem for the mass production and sustenance of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-UAS (CUAS) technologies.

These advancements align closely with the national vision of #AtmanirbharBharat, showcasing the Indian Army’s growing self-reliance in high-tech defense manufacturing.

The DG EME also lauded the integration of cutting-edge engineering solutions, specifically the employment of Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) to overcome complex engineering support challenges in the field.

He expressed deep appreciation for the “Konark Corps Technology Centre” and its pioneering initiatives in creating technical infrastructure through Robotics and Cobotics.

By reinforcing the Indian Army’s drive toward #TechInfusion, these specialized units are transforming traditional maintenance frameworks into high-tech support systems.

The visit concluded with Lt Gen Sahni motivating the personnel to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation to ensure that the Indian Army remains technologically superior and operationally resilient in the modern electronic warfare landscape.
