Army’s Wular Battalion Celebrates International Women’s Day at IDPS Kaloosa, Felicitates Local Achievers

Bandipora 08 March :- To mark International Women’s Day, the Indian Army’s Wular Battalion organised a special programme at IDPS Kaloosa in Bandipora district, bringing together women from the local community to celebrate their achievements and encourage greater participation in social development.
Around 135 women from the surrounding areas attended the event, which aimed to recognise the vital role of women in building a progressive and inclusive society.
The programme began with an informative presentation by the Wular Battalion highlighting the importance of women in shaping society, particularly within the unique socio-cultural landscape of Kashmir.
The presentation emphasised the evolving role of women in education, sports, social development and community leadership, and how empowered women contribute to social harmony and sustainable progress. During the interaction, participants were encouraged to pursue higher education, leadership opportunities and diverse career paths.
Speakers also highlighted the growing participation of women in professional sectors and their increasing role in driving positive change within communities.A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of ten distinguished women from the region who have made notable contributions in fields such as sports, education and social activism.
Their achievements were recognised as a source of inspiration for young girls and aspiring women leaders. The programme also acknowledged the resilience, strength and leadership demonstrated by women in everyday life, stressing the need to further strengthen their role in social and developmental initiatives.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the honoured women were presented with tokens of appreciation for their contributions to society.
The celebration reaffirmed the Indian Army’s continued commitment to community outreach and to empowering women as key stakeholders in building a stronger, more inclusive and progressive Kashmir.
