Minister Satish Sharma Flags Off “Nasha Mukt” Motorcycle Rally to Combat Drug Abuse in Jammu

JAMMU, MARCH 07, 2026 — In a bold push to foster a drug-free society, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, IT, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, officially flagged off a high-energy “Nasha Mukt” (Drug-Free) motorcycle rally from Jourian to Khour today.

Organized by the Society for Scheduled and Backward, a prominent NGO, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd of youth, social activists, and civil society members. Participants paraded through the region with banners and placards, sending a powerful collective message against the rising tide of substance abuse and advocating for a healthier, more resilient Jammu and Kashmir.

During the flag-off ceremony, Minister Sharma emphasized that drug addiction is not merely an individual struggle but a severe threat to the social and economic stability of the entire region. He highlighted the government’s multi-pronged strategy—focusing on awareness, prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation—to eradicate the menace.

The Minister specifically called for increased youth engagement in sports, education, and skill development, noting that the Youth Services & Sports Department is actively working to channel the energy of the younger generation into productive and constructive pathways.

Concluding the event, Satish Sharma urged parents, educators, and community leaders to maintain a vigilant and united front against narcotics.
