Haryana Catch: Crime Branch Kashmir Arrests Notorious Fraudster for Overseas Job Scam
SRINAGAR, March 5, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against international employment fraud, the Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has arrested a persistent fraudster in Faridabad, Haryana, ending his months-long run from the law.
The accused, identified as Farhat Abbas Malik, a resident of the Doda district, allegedly orchestrated an elaborate fake job racket that targeted vulnerable youth across Srinagar.
Officials revealed that Malik exploited the aspirations of young job-seekers by promising lucrative placements in countries like Armenia, only to vanish after swindling them of substantial sums of money.
The arrest follows a relentless pursuit by a specialized team of the Crime Branch in connection with FIR No. 02/2025. Malik had been absconding for several months, successfully evading local authorities until digital footprints and intelligence led the SCW to his hideout in Faridabad.
After his apprehension, he was produced before a duty magistrate in Haryana for transit remand and has since been brought back to Srinagar to face the competent court. Described by officials as a “habitual fraudster,” Malik is now under intense interrogation as investigators work to uncover the full extent of the scam and identify potential accomplices.
In light of this high-profile arrest, the Special Crime Wing has issued a stern advisory to the public, particularly youth looking for opportunities abroad. Authorities have urged citizens to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly verify the credentials of any job consultancy or recruitment agency before making financial commitments.
The Crime Branch emphasized that many fraudulent operators use the lure of overseas employment as a trap, and official verification is the only safeguard against such predatory scams.
