J&K Infrastructure Boost: Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Orders Strict Deadlines in Surprise PWD Jammu Inspection
JAMMU, J&K | March 2, 2026 — In a major move to enforce administrative accountability, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted a high-stakes surprise inspection of the Chief Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Jammu office on Monday.
Aimed at streamlining project delivery and enhancing CTR (Click-Through Rate) on government performance metrics, the Deputy CM conducted a granular review of both physical and financial progress across the region’s infrastructure portfolio. He sent a clear message to the engineering wing: delays, negligence, or any compromise on construction quality will face zero tolerance.
Stressing that “quality and transparency” are the pillars of the current administration, Choudhary directed officials to establish rigorous monitoring mechanisms to ensure that road connectivity and infrastructure projects reach every habitation in Jammu and Kashmir within their stipulated timelines.
The inspection served as a catalyst for RPM (Revenue Per Mille) efficiency in public spending, as the Deputy CM demanded seamless coordination between the Chief Engineer’s office and its allied wings to prevent budget overflows and missed deadlines.
Prior to the office raid, Choudhary also engaged with various public delegations, including residents from the remote Padder area, to address grassroots grievances.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance, he promised a result-oriented approach to resolving local issues. The visit, attended by the Chief Engineer and senior technical staff, marks a significant step toward a more robust and responsive public works framework in the Union Territory.
