National Conference’s Haq Insaaf Yatra Sparks Political Shift in Udhampur: New Members Join as Rural Grievances Mount
UDHAMPUR, March 02, 2026 — The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference’s Haq Insaaf Yatra has reached a fever pitch in Udhampur, signaling a potential shift in the local political landscape as it traverses the district’s rural heartlands.
Led by District President Sunil Verma and Additional Spokesperson Akash Verma, the Yatra received a rousing reception in the Dhandal West and Sulghar Panchayats, where local delegations voiced sharp criticism over the “stagnant development” and alleged apathy of the current BJP representatives.
Highlighting the severe lack of basic road connectivity and the failure of critical water supply schemes, residents urged the NC leadership to bridge the gap between remote villages and the corridors of power.
The momentum of the Yatra was further solidified in Block Ghordi, where former Sarpanch Bankey Bihari and several grassroots leaders officially defected to the National Conference, expressing their renewed confidence in the vision of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and CM Omar Abdullah.
Addressing the gathered crowds, Sunil Verma emphasized that the Yatra is not merely a political march but a movement for the “rights and dignity” of the common citizen, promising that every grievance recorded would be presented to the Chief Minister for swift resolution.
Akash Verma, the architect of the campaign, assured the public that the National Conference is committed to prioritizing infrastructure projects, such as the construction of vital bridges and the restoration of Jal Shakti schemes, which have reportedly been neglected for years.
With senior party functionaries and a growing number of youth volunteers joining the procession, the NC has successfully turned the Haq Insaaf Yatra into a powerful platform for public accountability, forcing developmental issues to the forefront of the district’s political discourse.
