LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates 2nd Sikh Cricket Premier League: A New Era for Youth Empowerment in J&KJ
AMMU, FEBRUARY 28, 2026 — In a vibrant display of sporting spirit and communal harmony, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially inaugurated the 2nd Edition of the ‘Sikh Cricket Premier League’ (SCPL) at the University of Jammu Cricket Ground today.
Addressing a massive gathering of athletes and youth, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the new generation is the “solution to every challenge” and that providing robust platforms like the SCPL is essential for them to “author history.”
The tournament, organized by the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee in collaboration with the Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club, stands out for its inclusive model, ensuring that every team features players from diverse communities to foster brotherhood and social unity.
LG Sinha praised the initiative as more than just a game, describing it as a “forge for life’s enduring values” that instills ferocious discipline, leadership, and unbreakable unity among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
During his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the historic transformation of the Union Territory’s sports landscape under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He noted that substantial financial assistance under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP) has already established a world-class foundation for excellence.
Furthermore, he shared the significant update that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured an additional Rs. 200 crore for sports development in J&K, with active support from premier organizations like the BCCI and FIFA.
Encouraging the players to view sports through the lens of entrepreneurship and purpose, LG Sinha remarked that true societal wealth resides in “fresh ideas” and “grand visions.”
The event saw the attendance of prominent figures including MLA Vikram Randhawa, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, and Chairman of the Sikh Coordination Committee S. Ajit Singh, all witnessing a tournament designed to shape the multifaceted character of the next generation.
