KUPWARA, February 27, 2026 — In a major move to fortify the security grid in North Kashmir, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired a comprehensive joint security review meeting on Friday to evaluate operational readiness and strategic response mechanisms in the frontier districts of Handwara and Kupwara.
Accompanied by SJM Geelani (Special DG Coordination), VK Birdi (IGP Kashmir), and Maqsood-ul-Zaman (DIG North Kashmir), the DGP engaged with top field commanders, including SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal and SSP Kupwara Al-Tahir Geelani.
The high-level session focused on intensifying counter-terrorism operations, dismantling terror-financing networks, and launching aggressive anti-narcotics drives to choke the resources of adverse entities. Nalin Prabhat issued strict directives for decisive kinetic operations against Pakistani terrorists, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward anyone aiding or abetting militancy.
By mandating a proactive, intelligence-led approach that integrates advanced technical surveillance with strengthened Human Intelligence (HUMINT) networks, the DGP underscored that seamless synergy between the Police, Army, and CAPFs is vital to maintaining a dominant security posture.
The meeting concluded with a minute review of border sensitivities and area domination plans, ensuring that the operational momentum remains uncompromising in the pursuit of long-term peace and stability in the region.
