Mehbooba Mufti Reacts to Delhi Court Verdict Discharging Kejriwal and Sisodia in Excise Case
SRINAGAR, FEB 27, 2026 — Following the Delhi court’s decision to discharge former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and several others in the excise policy case, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has voiced strong criticism regarding the functioning of central investigative agencies.
Taking to her official handle on X (formerly Twitter), the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister stated that the verdict exposes a pattern of high-handedness within national institutions.
Mufti emphasized that when agencies are utilized as “political swords,” justice is compromised, leading to years of unnecessary incarceration for those involved.
She pointed out that despite the court finding no prima facie case or credible evidence, the accused were subjected to a long legal battle and detention.
Highlighting the dangers of the “weaponisation of institutions,” she expressed concern over the continued misuse of power, noting that truth often only surfaces after significant personal hardship and “years of pain and tears.”
