Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia Discharged as Court Slams CBI for ‘Lack of Evidence’
NEW DELHI, FEB 27, 2026 — In a landmark legal victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a Delhi court on Friday discharged former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in the high-profile liquor policy case.
Special Judge Jitendra Singh of the Rouse Avenue Court refused to take cognisance of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge sheet, providing a “big relief” to the leaders and 21 others, including BRS leader K. Kavitha.
The court delivered a stinging rebuke to the federal agency, highlighting “misleading averments” and “internal contradictions” that struck at the very root of the alleged conspiracy.
Judge Singh ruled that there was no cogent evidence to sustain allegations against Kejriwal, while noting that no material or recoveries linked Sisodia to any criminal act.
Following the verdict, an emotional Kejriwal broke down outside the court, asserting that the judgment proves AAP’s “Kattar Imaandar” (staunchly honest) credentials while accusing the central government of hatching a massive political conspiracy.
Meanwhile, the CBI has announced it will immediately appeal the decision in the Delhi High Court, claiming the trial court ignored critical aspects of the multi-crore investigation.
