KPDCL Announces Major Power Shutdown in Srinagar and Budgam: Check Affected Areas and Timings

SRINAGAR February 26, 2026 — The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has issued a formal notification regarding essential maintenance and repair work, necessitating a series of scheduled power shutdowns across several key districts.

According to the Chief Engineer of Distribution, the 33 kV Karan Nagar line will be offline on March 1, 2026, from 08 AM to 02 PM, impacting major hubs including the Civil Secretariat, Shaheed Gunj, Karan Nagar, Chattabal, and Guru Bazar.

Residents and business owners in these high-traffic zones are advised to plan accordingly, as the outage will also extend to Balgarden, Zaldagar, and Gole Market.

Similarly, industrial and residential pockets in Budgam, including the Housing Colony and NIFT, will face a six-hour outage on March 3, 2026, due to critical work on the 33 kV Budgam SIDCO Tapline.Further disruptions are scheduled for rural and industrial sectors across the valley.

The 33 KV Nagam Hafroo Tap line will see a dual shutdown on February 28 and March 3, 2026, from 08 AM to 02 PM, affecting areas like Hafroo, Gogipathri, and Watkaloo.

Meanwhile, residents in Tral-i-Payeen and surrounding villages should prepare for a shutdown on February 28 via the Tral 1st line. Additionally, the industrial heartland of Pampore and Khrew, including several cement plants and the IE Wuyan sector, will experience a power suspension on March 1, 2026, as KPDCL carries out vital upgrades to the 33 kV Pampore SIDCO line.

These measures are part of KPDCL’s ongoing infrastructure reinforcement strategy to ensure long-term grid stability and minimize unscheduled outages during peak demand periods.
