Northern Command Chief Chairs High-Level Meet to Boost Veteran Welfare and Healthcare in J&K
UDHAMPUR, February 26, 2026 — In a significant move to strengthen the support system for the veteran community, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander of the Northern Command, chaired a comprehensive interaction with key stakeholders of the Rajya and Zila Sainik Boards in Udhampur today.
The high-level meeting, which included Directors of the Rajya Sainik Board and the Regional Centre ECHS (Jammu), saw a robust mix of physical attendance and virtual participation from across Jammu and Kashmir.
The primary focus of the deliberations remained the holistic well-being of Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Veer Naris, and their families, with a roadmap centered on effective rehabilitation, resettlement, and streamlined healthcare services.
Highlighting the Army’s role in Nation Building, the discussions emphasized the need for a more robust civil-military connection to ensure that welfare schemes reach the grassroots level.
Reaffirming the Indian Army’s unwavering support, Lt Gen Sharma stated that the Northern Command remains committed to standing “shoulder-to-shoulder” with Zila Sainik Boards.
By enhancing outreach programs and leveraging digital connectivity, the command aims to resolve grievance issues and improve the quality of life for those who have served the nation, ensuring no veteran is left behind in the pursuit of comprehensive care.
