Mughal Road Reopens for Light Motor Vehicles: Traffic Restored on Bufliaz to Peer Ki Gali Stretch

POONCH February 26, 2026 — In a major relief for commuters, the District Magistrate of Poonch has officially ordered the reopening of the Mughal Road (NH-701A) for vehicular traffic following the successful clearance of heavy snow accumulation.

The order specifically permits the movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) along the crucial Bufliaz to Peer Ki Gali stretch starting from February 27, 2026, within a regulated window of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This decision follows a formal recommendation from the Officer Commanding, 79 RCC (GREF), confirming the route’s readiness after extensive maintenance.

To ensure passenger safety, the GREF will maintain a constant vigil with men and machinery stationed at avalanche-prone areas to address potential landslides or shooting stones.

Additionally, heavy police deployment from the Poonch and Jammu Traffic Rural divisions will be stationed at key checkpoints, including Poshana and Behramgalla, to enforce strict adherence to the new timings and weather-dependent travel advisories.
