Employment Revolution:Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Inducts 2,577 New Officers into Punjab Police to Bolster Border Security
JALANDHAR, February 25, 2026 — In a major move to fortify Punjab’s security grid against cross-border threats, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today formally inducted 2,577 new personnel into the Punjab Police during an impressive passing-out parade at the PAP Grounds in Jalandhar.
Acknowledging Punjab’s strategic position as a frontline state, the Chief Minister emphasized that the force is not just guarding a province but acting as the “Police of the Nation” against nefarious designs involving drone incursions and anti-social elements from across the border.
This latest induction is part of the state’s “Employment Revolution,” taking the total number of police appointments since March 2022 to over 12,010. The Chief Minister highlighted that his government has earmarked ₹1,100 crore specifically for the scientific modernization of the force, integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and specialized technical units to combat terrorism and cybercrime.
During his address, CM Mann lauded the “War Against Drugs” campaign, noting that it has resulted in 50,238 arrests and the seizure of massive quantities of contraband, including 2,230 kg of heroin and 29 tons of poppy husk.
He also credited the newly formed Road Safety Force (SSF) with saving 46,399 lives through its 146 high-tech vehicles and rapid medical assistance. The Chief Minister pointed out that Punjab is the first state to recruit specialized technical sub-inspectors, including forensic experts and IT managers, to tackle modern criminal challenges like financial fraud and gangsterism.
Addressing the newly recruited officers—who underwent rigorous training at prestigious centers in Phillaur, Jahan Khelan, and Kapurthala—the Chief Minister urged them to serve with dedication and empathy toward the common man. He reaffirmed that the recruitment cycle is now a permanent annual feature, with training for 1,900 additional personnel beginning in March 2026 and the recruitment process for another 3,400 officers set to commence shortly.
The event concluded with the CM inspecting the parade and honoring top-performing cadets, reiterating his unwavering resolve to maintain Punjab’s hard-earned peace and dignity against all external and internal threats.
