Tragic Accident at Vijaypur Railway Station: Youth Crushed to Death While Alighting from Archana Express

SAMBA, February 25, 2026 — A 27-year-old man lost his life in a horrific accident today at the Vijaypur Railway Station in Samba district after falling under a moving train.

The victim, identified as Sumit, son of Somraj and a resident of Valmiki Colony in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, was attempting to disembark from the Archana Express when the tragedy occurred.

According to eyewitness accounts, the young man lost his balance while getting off the train, causing him to slip into the gap and fall onto the tracks. The train reportedly ran over him before he could be rescued, resulting in his immediate death at the scene and causing a wave of panic and chaos among the passengers on the platform.​

Upon receiving the information, the Railway Police and local police teams rushed to the spot to secure the area and recover the body. The remains were subsequently shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

While initial findings suggest the incident was a purely accidental slip, the police have officially registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation to examine all circumstances surrounding the mishap.

Authorities at the station have once again urged passengers to exercise extreme caution and wait for trains to come to a complete halt before attempting to board or deboard to prevent such heart-wrenching fatalities.
