Western Command’s Exercise Kharga Shakti 2026 Concludes: Indian Army Validates High-Tech Combat Readiness and Air-Land Synergy
CHANDIGARH, February 24, 2026 — Marking a major milestone in India’s defensive preparedness, the Western Command of the Indian Army today announced the successful conclusion of Exercise Kharga Shakti 2026.
This high-intensity, operationally-oriented training cycle was designed to rigorously validate the combat readiness of the Kharga Corps across the complex spectrum of the modern battlefield.
The exercise served as a massive demonstration of the military’s evolution, showcasing the seamless integration of high-mobility maneuvers, precision firepower, and advanced UAS-enabled ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance).
Critical emphasis was placed on counter-UAS measures, layered air defense, and highly coordinated joint air-land operations in tandem with the Indian Air Force, ensuring the Corps can transition from deterrence to decisive action at a moment’s notice.
Reviewing the drills, Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Army Commander, Western Command, lauded the formations for their exceptional professionalism and the successful infusion of new-age technology into their operational clarity.
