COAS General Upendra Dwivedi Commends Northern Command for Operational Excellence in Jammu & Kashmir
NEW DELHI, February 22, 2026 — General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has formally commended the troops of the Northern Command for their “exemplary professionalism and steadfast resolve” during ongoing counter-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement recognizing the high-intensity efforts on the ground, the Army Chief lauded the vigilance and operational excellence displayed by the soldiers. He specifically highlighted the seamless coordination between various units, which has remained effective despite the region’s notoriously challenging environmental and tactical conditions.
Reiterating the military’s strategic stance, General Dwivedi emphasized that the Indian Army maintains a policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism in all its forms. The commendation comes at a time of heightened activity in sectors like Kishtwar, where the Army’s persistence has led to significant tactical gains.
The COAS reaffirmed that the force remains unwavering in its primary mission: ensuring lasting peace and stability within the Union Territory while dismantled terror networks that seek to disrupt the safety of the civilian population.
