Udhampur Traffic Police Intensify Enforcement: 214 Vehicles Challaned and Six Seized in Special Drive
UDHAMPUR, Feb 20, 2026: In a major crackdown on traffic offenders, the Traffic Police NHW Udhampur conducted a two-day special enforcement drive across the Udhampur and Reasi sectors, resulting in the challaning of 214 vehicles.
Under the direction of senior traffic officials, special teams led by DTI Udhampur Inspector Vinay Gupta and DTI Reasi Inspector Navneet Verma established multiple checkpoints to monitor compliance with the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.
During the operation, over 300 vehicles were inspected, leading to the imposition of fines totaling ₹30,500 through the electronic e-challan system. Furthermore, six vehicles were seized on the spot for serious violations, including operating without valid documentation or driving licenses.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Traffic Udhampur provided a breakdown of the offenses, noting that the drive focused heavily on safety and structural violations. Specifically, 50 challans were issued to motorcyclists without helmets, while 13 cases of triple riding and 28 instances of vehicle overloading were recorded.
Officials emphasized that these drives are essential for ensuring the safety of all road users and issued a stern appeal to the public—particularly college students and parents—to strictly adhere to traffic regulations. The department confirmed that such surprise checks will continue in the future to maintain discipline and reduce road accidents in the region.
