Udhampur Police Arrest Baramulla Drug Peddler with Heroin at Patnitop
UDHAMPUR, Feb 20, 2026: In a continuing crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Udhampur Police apprehended another inter-district drug peddler in the tourist hub of Patnitop.
A patrolling party from the Kud Police Station, led by the SHO, intercepted a suspicious individual during a routine security check in the area. Upon questioning, the suspect was identified as Adil Ahmed, a resident of the Sheikhsahib, Chinkipora area in the Baramulla district.
A subsequent personal search led to the recovery of 06 grams of heroin from his possession, highlighting the persistent attempt by smugglers to transport contraband across district lines.
Following the recovery, the accused was immediately taken into custody. A formal case has been registered under FIR No. 05/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Kud Police Station.
This arrest follows a series of successful operations by regional authorities to sanitize key transit points and tourist locations from illegal drug trade. Local police officials confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the heroin and investigate potential links to a larger smuggling network.
