Ramban Police Apprehend Long-Term Fugitive in Jammu Raid
RAMBAN, February 14, 2026 — In a major boost to its crackdown on fugitives, the Ramban Police successfully tracked down and arrested a high-profile absconder who had been evading the law for three years.
Acting on specific intelligence, a specialized team from the Ramban Police Station conducted a targeted raid in the Sunjwan area of Jammu on February 13, 2026. The apprehended individual, identified as Sabir Ahmed, son of Mohd. Hanief and a resident of Golda, Tehsil Bhalwal, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 117/2023 involving violations of Section 188 IPC and the PCA Act.
The accused had been intentionally avoiding arrest since the case was first registered, prompting the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ramban to issue a formal arrest warrant under Section 355 of the BNSS. The operation, led by ASI Ravinder Kumar Sharma, was executed under the strategic supervision of the DySP Headquarters and the SSP Ramban.
Following his capture, Ahmed was transported back to Ramban under heavy security and is scheduled to be produced before the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings.
This arrest underscores the District Police’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that offenders face justice, regardless of how long they remain on the run.
