Jammu and Kashmir Police Launches Tech-Infused Tourism Policing Workshop in Srinagar

Srinagar, February 18, 2026 — In a major initiative to modernize regional security, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), has commenced a two-week specialized workshop on Tech-Infused Tourism Policing.

Held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar from February 16 to 27, 2026, the program is designed to equip police personnel with cutting-edge tools to manage tourism-related security challenges. By integrating smart surveillance systems, data-driven policing, and digital response mechanisms, the department aims to transition toward a more technologically advanced and efficient framework for safeguarding the region’s vital tourism sector.

The inaugural session was led by SSP Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, who emphasized the critical role of technology in enhancing public confidence and operational transparency. He noted that in a tourism-centric region like Jammu and Kashmir, building a “tech-savvy and citizen-friendly” force is essential for providing a secure and welcoming environment.

The ceremony, attended by senior officers including DySP Headquarters Syed Sleet Shah and DySP DAR Nazir Ahmad, featured an institutional exchange where the Director of Rashtriya Raksha University presented a memento to SSP Srinagar, symbolizing the strong partnership between law enforcement and academic expertise.

Throughout the fortnight, experts from Rashtriya Raksha University will conduct interactive sessions focusing on cyber awareness in tourism zones, emergency response systems, and digital documentation.

The curriculum includes practical demonstrations and scenario-based training to ensure officers can effectively utilize modern surveillance technologies and tourist assistance mechanisms.

This initiative underscores the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s commitment to evolving its traditional practices into a robust, technology-led security infrastructure that prioritizes the safety and experience of every visitor to the valley.
