BARAMULLA, February 17, 2026 — In a successful midnight operation against the drug trade, the Baramulla Police apprehended three individuals and recovered a significant quantity of a brown sugar–like substance in the Pattan area.

During the intervening night of February 16 and 17, a patrolling party from Police Post Mirgund intercepted three suspicious men—identified as Imran Hussain Malla, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat, and Mohammad Saleem Bhat, all residents of Yakhmanpora—as they attempted to flee from Kansoth Colony toward Yakhmanpora.

A meticulous personal search led to the recovery of 29 grams of the illicit substance and a digital weighing machine from Imran Hussain Malla, while Tanveer Ahmad and Mohammad Saleem were found in possession of 13 grams and 19 grams of the substance, respectively, along with several foil pouches.

Following the recovery, authorities registered FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 8/21-29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Pattan, and a comprehensive investigation is now underway to map out the broader supply chain and distribution network involved.
