DLSA Organizes Legal Literacy Camp in Udhampur; ‘Mediation for the Nation 2.0’ Campaign Highlighted

UDHAMPUR, February 17, 2026 — Under the leadership of Secretary DLSA and Sub-Judge, Samati Sharma, a specialized legal awareness camp was organized today at JK Public School in Ward No. 17.

Chaired by social activist Somraj Kundal, the event focused on educating the public about the ‘Mediation for the Nation 2.0’ campaign, a 90-day nationwide initiative launched by the Supreme Court of India on January 2, 2026.

Sub-Judge, Samati Sharma provided comprehensive guidance on eradicating social evils like child marriage and dowry, while emphasizing how long-standing disputes—including land issues, domestic violence, and matrimonial conflicts—can be resolved amicably through the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to reduce the burden on formal courts.

Guest of honor and social activist Dr. Anu Chopra, along with Somraj Kundal, addressed the large gathering, noting the high level of public enthusiasm for understanding legal rights.

Somraj Kundal expressed his gratitude to Samati Sharma for her leadership and thanked Maninder Singh Baba, Managing Director of JK Public School, for hosting the event.

He highlighted that such camps are vital for building public trust in the judicial system and ensuring that legal aid reaches the last person in the queue. The successful camp concluded with a call for more such initiatives to empower citizens with the tools for swift and affordable justice.
