Shopian Police Seize Two JCBs for Illegal Mining; FIR Registered in Zainapora
SHOPIAN, February 16: In a significant move to curb environmental degradation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal mining by seizing two JCB machines in the Zainapora area of Shopian.
The operation, led by a dedicated team from the Zainapora Police Station, was part of an ongoing, district-wide initiative to halt the unauthorized extraction and transportation of natural minerals.During a routine patrol, police officers intercepted the heavy machinery while it was being used to extract minerals without the required legal royalty documents.
Following the seizure, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 10/2026 at the Zainapora Police Station. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the matter to identify all parties involved in the syndicate.
Reaffirming their commitment to protecting the region’s natural resources, the J&K Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious mining activities, promising that the identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.
