Joint Counter-Terrorist Mock Exercise at IGI Airport Bolsters Delhi’s Aviation Security
NEW DELHI, Feb 16, 2026 — In a major push to fortify the security apparatus of the nation’s busiest aviation hub, a comprehensive Joint Counter-Terrorist Mock Exercise was successfully conducted at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The drill was designed to test and enhance inter-agency coordination, tactical preparedness, and the real-time response capabilities of multiple security stakeholders against evolving global terror threats.
This high-intensity simulation ensured that all emergency protocols remain sharpened and seamless in the event of a high-stakes security breach.
The multi-agency operation saw the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) working in close synergy with elite units from the National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Police, and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
Integral support was also provided by the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team from DIAL, local Fire Services, and Medical Services to simulate a holistic emergency response.
A standout feature of the exercise was the performance of the CISF’s Quick Reaction Team (QRT), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and the K9 squad, all of whom played a pivotal role in swiftly neutralizing simulated threats through disciplined operational coordination.
