BRO Restores Vital Connectivity on Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli Highway After Intense Snowfall

BHADERWAH, Feb 14, 2026 — In a swift and coordinated response to extreme winter weather, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully reopened the strategic Bhaderwah–Bani–Basohli road (NH-503) following heavy snow accumulation at the high-altitude Chattergala Pass.

Executed by the 69 and 118 Road Construction Companies (RCC) under Project Sampark’s 35 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), the intensive snow clearance operation restored a crucial 65-kilometre link that had been temporarily severed.

Operating near the Ashapati glacier and the foothills of Mount Kailash, BRO personnel battled sub-zero temperatures and deep snowdrifts around the clock to ensure the artery was cleared well ahead of the typical seasonal schedule.

This successful mission by the Ministry of Defence’s engineering wing has facilitated the immediate resumption of essential supplies, emergency services, and local trade, underscoring the BRO’s unwavering commitment to maintaining all-weather strategic and socio-economic connectivity across the challenging Himalayan terrain.
