SAMBA, February 11, 2026 — In a major crackdown on organized crime and narcotics, the Samba Police have arrested a notorious “hardcore criminal-cum-drug peddler” in the Ramgarh sector. Acting on credible intelligence, a specialized team from the Ramgarh Police Station established a checkpoint on Rajpura-Jattan Road near the water tank.
During the operation, officers intercepted a suspicious pedestrian traveling from Khour village toward Swankha. A subsequent search of the individual led to the recovery of a pistol, five live cartridges, and approximately 20.23 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly referred to as “Chitta.
“The arrested individual has been identified as Ranju Choudhary, a resident of Kathar in the Arnia tehsil of Jammu. Choudhary is described by authorities as a habitual offender with a lengthy criminal record spanning multiple districts.
He is reportedly involved in several heinous crimes, including attempted murder, snatching, and assaults on public servants. Following the seizure of the weapon and contraband, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 12/2026 at Police Station Ramgarh, citing violations of the NDPS Act (Sections 8/21/22) and the Arms Act (Section 3/25).
This high-stakes operation was executed by the Ramgarh SHO under the direct supervision of the SDPO Vijaypur and the overall command of the SSP Samba. The arrest is significant given Choudhary’s extensive history, which includes at least eight registered FIRs across various police stations such as Ramgarh, Arnia, and Kahana Chak.
These previous charges include multiple counts of attempted murder (Section 307 IPC/109 BNS) and various violations of the Arms Act, marking his capture as a vital step in enhancing regional security and curbing the local drug trade.
