JAMMU, February 11, 2026 — In a swift and successful operation, the Janipur Police have recovered a stolen e-Rickshaw valued at approximately ₹5,00,000 within 24 hours of the crime being reported.
The incident came to light when the owner, Tanvir Kumar, lodged a formal complaint stating that his newly purchased vehicle—bought just three days prior—had been stolen from outside his residence in Sector 7, Upper Roop Nagar, Shanti Nagar, near Fortis Lab.
The victim discovered the theft on the morning of February 10, 2026, prompting an immediate police response and the registration of Case FIR No. 20 of 2026 under the relevant sections of the law.The investigation was spearheaded by PSI Vivek Daliya, under the supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO) and a dedicated specialized team.
Utilizing a combination of scientific methods and technical surveillance, the team worked meticulously to track the movements of the stolen property. Through sustained professional efforts and strategic inputs, the police successfully located and recovered the e-Rickshaw.
Local authorities highlighted that this recovery is part of a broader trend in the City West sub-division, where Janipur has seen a notable decrease in theft incidents and an impressively high recovery rate compared to other jurisdictions within the Jammu Police district.
While the vehicle has been returned, further investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in the theft.
