GANDERBAL, February 6, 2026 — In a proactive move to curb illegal collection practices, the Ganderbal Police have officially registered a criminal case against the owner of M/S Sheer-i-Kashmir Construction Pvt. Ltd.
The company stands accused of overcharging tourist vehicles for sanitation fees at the SDA Toll Post, Shudkadi, Sonamarg, a vital gateway for visitors in the region.Following reports of unauthorized fee hikes, authorities filed FIR No. 02/2026 at the Sonamarg Police Station under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
An investigation is currently underway to determine the total volume of illegal funds collected and to identify if any other parties were involved in the scheme.
