Srinagar Police Bust Family-Run Drug Syndicate in Khanyar; Heroin and Luxury Vehicle Seized
SRINAGAR, Feb 05, 2026 – In a major blow to the local narcotics trade, the Srinagar Police have arrested three notorious drug peddlers, all members of the same family, during an operation in the Khanyar area.
Acting on precise intelligence, a specialized team from the Khanyar Police Station intercepted a Scorpio vehicle (Registration No. JK01AW-8898) at a checkpoint.
A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of high-grade heroin, estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees in the illicit market.The arrested individuals have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Mir, his daughter Muskan Gulzar Mir, and his son Ubaid Gulzar, all residents of Baghi Roop Singh, Miskeen Bagh, Khanyar.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the family was running an organized supply network across Srinagar. Furthermore, the luxury vehicle used in the crime has been seized, with evidence indicating it was purchased using the proceeds of drug trafficking.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 08/2026 has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Khanyar.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive financial probe to identify and attach further immovable properties acquired through these illegal means.
Reaffirming its “zero-tolerance” stance against narcotics, the J&K Police has urged the public to continue providing actionable information to help eradicate the drug menace from the valley.
