JAMMU, FEBRUARY 05, 2026: During the Question Hour of the ongoing Budget Session, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah informed the Legislative Assembly that the government is actively examining a comprehensive proposal to develop new tourism-worthy destinations across Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to a query from the MLA for Banihal-Gool, the Chief Minister highlighted that several scenic locations in the Ramban district have been earmarked for potential development to boost the local economy and diversify the region’s tourism map.
The Chief Minister identified a list of specific high-altitude and scenic areas currently under consideration, including Godagali, Nathatop, Daggan Top, Neel Top, and Mahoo. Other notable locations mentioned in the proposal include Sarvadhar (Pogal Paristan), Sargali Pogal, Chanderkote, and Bhatni Village.
These spots are being evaluated for their potential to attract nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, potentially transforming the Ramban district into a major stop for travelers moving along the national highway.
Furthering the commitment to the region, Omar Abdullah stated that developmental works are already underway in the Banihal-Gool constituency based on detailed feasibility reports.
To support these initiatives, the government has allocated ₹117.27 lakh under the Capex Budget for the 2025–26 financial year. This funding is specifically directed toward building essential tourism infrastructure, ensuring that these hidden gems are equipped with the necessary facilities to handle future footfall while preserving their natural beauty.
