Security Forces Thwart Major Threat: IED Recovered and Neutralized in Rajouri’s Thanamandi
RAJOURI, February 5, 2026 — Panic was averted in the Khablan area of Thanamandi today after security forces successfully recovered and secured a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of security forces rushed to the spot in the early hours to cordon off the area and prevent any civilian casualties.
The detection was significantly aided by the Indian Army’s K9 Squad, whose specialized explosive-detection dogs pinpointed the location of the hidden device, confirming the presence of high-grade explosives intended to disrupt peace in the Jammu division.
Following the identification of the threat, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately summoned to the site to carry out a controlled neutralization of the device.
Traffic on nearby link roads was temporarily suspended while the experts worked to render the IED safe. While the explosive has been successfully neutralized, a massive search-and-cordon operation is currently underway in the surrounding Khablan and Thanamandi sectors to ensure no other devices are planted in the vicinity.
Authorities are investigating the origin of the IED, as security has been further tightened across Rajouri district in light of recent high-profile VIP movements in the Union Territory.
