Surinder Choudhary inspects snow-hit Pulwama and Shopian; orders rapid restoration of essential services

PULWAMA, January 28, 2026 — Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted an extensive field assessment today across the snow-clad districts of Pulwama and Shopian to oversee relief operations and expedite local development projects. Accompanied by several legislators, Choudhary visited heavily affected areas including Rajpora, Chek-Badrinath, Shajimarg, and Imam Sahab to take a firsthand appraisal of snow clearance and utility restoration. During high-level review meetings with district administrations and engineering wings of PWD and PMGSY, he issued strict directives to ensure that road connectivity is restored without delay and that uninterrupted essential services are maintained for residents.

Emphasizing a time-bound approach, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to deploy all available machinery to mitigate public hardships and ensure that the recent snowfall does not stall the momentum of ongoing infrastructure works.

In addition to monitoring emergency responses, Choudhary focused on the progress of various Public Works Department (PWD) projects, urging officers to accelerate execution to meet fixed deadlines.

The visit also served as a platform for public engagement, as the Deputy Chief Minister met with several local delegations to listen to their grievances regarding weather-induced challenges.
