RAJOURI, January 26, 2026 – An Indian Army soldier was injured on Monday following a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources confirmed that the incident occurred in the forward area of the Keri sector while troops were conducting a routine patrol. The injured soldier, identified as an Agniveer, was immediately provided first aid on the spot and subsequently evacuated to a nearby military hospital for specialized treatment.
The explosion took place within the anti-infiltration obstacle system, where forward locations are strategically dotted with landmines to prevent illegal border crossings.
Officials noted that such accidents occasionally occur when mines are shifted or washed away from their original positions due to heavy rains or soil erosion.
While further details regarding the soldier’s current medical condition are awaited, senior officers have been briefed on the incident, and a localized search of the area has been initiated to ensure the safety of other patrolling parties.
