Republic Day 2026: Jammu Police and Village Defence Guards Intensify Patrols Along IB and LoC

Jammu January 25, 2026 — In a proactive move to fortify border security ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Jammu (Rural) Police has significantly ramped up patrolling efforts along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC).

Following strategic directives from SP Rural Jammu, Brijesh Sharma (JKPS), security forces have launched a series of joint operations in the sensitive Pargwal and Malla Bharore sectors.

These intensified measures are part of a broader security grid designed to maintain maximum alertness and deter any cross-border threats during the national festivities. In the Pargwal sector, a combined team of police personnel from PP Pargwal and local Village Defence Guard (VDG) members conducted extensive patrolling near the Malabela border area.

A similar exercise was carried out in Malla Bharore under the direct supervision of the Border Police Post (BPP) in-charge, where forces and VDG volunteers combed the terrain to strengthen the local defense mechanism.

By integrating the local knowledge of the VDGs with the tactical expertise of the police, authorities aim to ensure a foolproof security environment. Officials confirmed that while the situation remains peaceful, the joint patrols will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance to ensure an incident-free Republic Day.
