JAMMU, JANUARY 24, 2026 — Following a wave of relentless rainfall and heavy snowfall across the Jammu Division, the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has successfully restored over 944 MW of power load. Working on a “war-footing,” the corporation has brought the current supply close to the normal average running load of 1056 MW, marking a significant recovery in regional energy stability.
Restoration efforts have been particularly effective at the Sub-Transmission level, where 165 out of 181 lines (66/33 kV) and 91% of receiving stations are now fully operational. At the distribution level, JPDCL has energized 987 out of 1,373 feeders (11 kV) and restored over 73% of distribution transformers.
While urban areas and essential services have seen nearly full restoration, teams are now prioritizing the remaining 13,367 transformers in more challenging locations. The corporation has mobilized extensive manpower, machinery, and materials to navigate difficult terrains and repair damages caused by the harsh winter weather.
JPDCL is currently working in close coordination with district administrations to reach remote interior locations and higher reaches as weather conditions improve. Officials have urged the public to remain patient during these final stages of restoration, reassuring residents that all available resources are being deployed to normalize the power supply in a time-bound manner.
